Winterquist Elementary monitors class sizes throughout the school year to make informed decisions regarding Open Enrollment. The school board has placed class size targets that the administration must follow in order to keep our class sizes at an optimal number for learning.
Open enrollment decisions are based on class size numbers and openings in each grade level. If an opening is available in a desired grade level, the district will hold a lottery to select a student to fill the opening.
We follow sibling preference as our first criteria.
If sibling preference is not applicable, then a lottery is performed and a name is drawn from the list of perspective families.
