Today we started my favorite SCIENCE UNIT, the HUMAN BODY! We made a list of everything we know about the human body. It is a pretty long list. Then we read a book that took us on an adventure through the human body. In math, we had five centers. The centers were mega math, making cents, cards, math mountains, and working with Mrs. Putzke. This afternoon we took our chapter three social studies test. We all did WONDERFUL!! After library, we learned about our new sound. TH! I can tell, from the pre-tests, that we really know this sound. After that, we wrote about what we are thankful for! I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!
When we got to school we had new spots! Ask me who is at my new table. Then, we wrote in our first grade writing books about trick or treating or something fun we did with our family yesterday. Then, we went into math centers. They were mega math, movie making, math mountains. and activity sheet, and working with Miss C. Miss C either helped me or challenged me today in math. SHE LOVED IT! After that we had phy ed. At phy ed we had free game day! It was a blast! Then after lunch we met Brock's dad! He was so cool and his name was Bob! Then, we went to third grade buddies and read. Ask me who my third grade buddy is. Then we took our spelling test and finished our theme test. Finally at the end of the day we had some free time to shop and color in our new November books! I can't wait to see you all on Monday!
We started our day saying Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday to Michael in our morning message!! Then we had our math centers!!! During centers we worked on our math mountains and skeletons. Mrs. Young was here during math centers! She was a lot of fun and helped us out a lot! Then we worked on the compass rose. We played our favorite game North, South, East, and West. Ceci and Elijah were our two winners. After lunch, we read the story There was an Old Lady that wasn't afraid of anything! We used props during that story. Ask your child what their favorite prop was. After that we had our Halloween centers. In Miss Battaglia's room we played Halloween BINGO/! In Mrs. Baird's class we made a pumpkin. In Mrs. Durand's class we read a bug Halloween book. After centers we had our Halloween parade. Then we had tons of treats for Halloween and for Michael;s birthday. Joelle's mom and Aleah and Ethan's mom came to help us out this afternoon!! What a FUN day! I can't wait to see you all tomorrow. Be safe tonight!
When we started today we had our calendar and morning message. NO MORE IPAD! It is weird to get use to, but we are ALL SUPER EXCITED to watch the movie at home tonight. Miss C is coming to ALL of your houses this evening. It's a great one tonight! After that we took our chapter 2 math test! So far, it looks like we all did FABULOUS!!! Next, we went to the cafeteria and watched the kindergarten CIRCUS!! They did an awesome job! Then we had music where we read a Halloween book and played where's the pumpkin? It was a lot of fun. After lunch we packed up, talked about our plan for tonight with our homework and blogged! I hope you have a great day. I can't wait to see you tomorrow for Michael's BIRTHDAY!
We started our day out a little different that normal. There were no ipads in math. Today we reviewed our chapter 2 because tomorrow will be the chapter two test! We are going to do great on it! After that, we went into social studies. Today we finished our I Love Lucy Chocolate Factory timelines! They look GREAT!!! After lunch, we practiced more of the letter e. We are getting really good at this tricky vowel. We also learned our new high frequency words. They are eat, was, first, said, day, and time. Then we read a story with all of these words in it. It was about a little red hen that needed help cleaning up the food mess. Finally, we ended with working on our invitations. I can't wait to see you all tomorrow! TONIGHT YOU GET A NIGHT OFF OF HOMEWORK! NO MOVIE OR WORKSHEET!!!
Today was fabulous because when we came in the ipads worked awesome! We got right to the Sophia website and found our movie. Today was the last day of watching the ipads in school. Wednesday night will be our first movie at home! I can't wait to see how this works! After that, our smartboard was not working so we skipped our calendar and went right into centers. We had five math centers today. One was with Miss C. One was our card game. One was our math books. Another one was our videos. Our last one was our shapes. After that, we had social studies where we watched I Love Lucy again. Now, we are working on a timeline of the I Love Lucy chocolate factory. We got to the conveyor belt today. After lunch, we learned about the letter E! MY NAME IS ETHAN AND I LIVE IN E,E,E,ESKO!!! Then we played a great round of PIG! After library we worked on our new spelling words and practiced reading exclamations! At the end of the day we worked on invitiations! Make sure you are planning at home when you will be watching the Sophia.org movie. I got ten back from kids today! THANKS TO BROCK FOR THE DELICIOUS TREAT!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROCK!!! We started our day with a little bummer. When we went to Sophia.org it had deleted our video. So we had math the old fashion way. We learned about horizontal and vertical. Ask me how we remember what vertical is. Next, we talked about jobs! Wal Mart is not a job. Being the clerk at Wal Mart is ajob. Then we talked about workers in a factory that work with machines. Then we watched the FAMOUS I LOVE LUCY clip where Lucy has to work in a CHOCOLATE factory. We were laughing so hard. Elijah was really worried about her getting fired. After lunch Officer Steve was here to spend the rest of the day with us. Then our third grade buds came. We made Halloween projects with our third grade bud. Some of them turned out AMAZING!!! Then we played Sparkle! It's a lot of fun and it helps us remember our spelling words. Next, we took our spelling test. After that we had Bryce's cupcakes that were delicious. After music, we took part of our theme test. Finally, we ended with Cmart and free choice. At the end of the day Officer Steve surprised us with TREATS! SO MANY TREATS! I can't wait to see you all on Monday!
Today was a FABULOUS day! This morning we started right away getting our ipads and learning our new math for the day. It was more work with subtracting! We are getting really good at it. After that we had our calendar where we did an AWESOME job being independent and working on the calendar without Miss C. Bryce was a great leader! WOW! Then we had Math centers. Then centers were a lot of fun today. In the card game, the student that won had the smaller number! We also continued making videos of subtraction problems. During social studies we reviewed some of our new terms. Scarcity, wants, needs, goods, services, work, and volunteering. We then volunteered our time and picked up our hallways especially in the high school. After lunch, Bryce shared his great pictures. We are learning so many cool things about Bryce. His big brother is even in the army! What a hero! We practiced our high frequency words, then practiced telling and naming parts of sentences. Then, Miss C. had us cut apart words and make contractions. In are not we cut our the O and put a stitch there to make aren't. Then we searched and located words in a book that had 'all' in them. Finally for language arts, we had to correct questions. Then we got to ask Miss C any question we wanted to. Collin asked me if I could buy him an NFL football. Some of the other questions were a bit surprising. You can ask them at home. :) Finally, we ended with our DAILY FIVE!!! What a great day! I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!
Today Miss C. was back! There was no camera in her tummy. We all thought there was going to be. Right away we found our ipads and watched our movie of Miss C teaching the lesson for the day. It's been a week since we have practiced, due to the break and Miss C being gone, but we still did great! We practiced more subtraction. We are getting better and better. Have your child show you the sign for subtracting. Next, we had calendar and then we had centers. The centers were: working with Miss C., mega math, money practice, and story problems with iphones. After that, we drew a picture of our favorite place to visit. Ask your child where they drew. After lunch we made Bryce's wordle! There are a lot of great words describing our Celebrity of the week! He also brought in a great Halloween book! It's Curious George! Then we practiced our new high frequency. We also practiced adding ed and ing to the end of words. This is tricky but we are getting the hang of it. For social studies we learned about buying, trading, and saving! We talked about great ways to save your money to shop at Cmart. There are some expensive but GREAT things to buy! Finally, we ended with Daily Five. In the daily five now, we get to choose which centers we want to do. We have to complete all of them between today and tomorrow. The writing center is a must where we have to write four sentences about our favorite place to visit. What a great day!
