Today was a GREAT day!  Everyone moved UP on our chart!!  We went into math right away this morning.  Mr. Harker came in to see how good we have been!  We did great!  We worked on adding ones, tens, and both.  We also had stations for math.  In library this morning we watched a little movie about recycling.  If we don't have recycling it is a bigger mess!  This afternoon we had computer.  We are still working on our little bird tale stories.   We had Daily 5 after computer.  One of our centers was a little bit special today.  We started our presents for our parents....SHHH we can't tell you what we are making! It's a surprise!  In social studies we started a new unit.  We learned all about laws in our community!  I hope you all have a good night.  See you all on FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a good day!  Today we had Daily 5. We did something a little different. At the writing center, we pretended we were interviewing Santa.  We read some of our StoryTown stories at read to someone.  At the word work center, we played hang mouse at the smart board and we wrote down our spelling words into a chart.  We had music and library.  For science we worked on our body parts and added labels.  Math was working on adding either ones or tens.  We are getting good at showing numbers with sticks and circles.  It is still a bit tricky for us when we have to write the word names. See you Thursday!

It was a fun math day!  This morning we zoomed right into reading.  In reading we read "Snowmen All Year" and continued working on comparing and contrasting.  We found special names in sentences and we fixed them by adding uppercase letters!  Then, we got into partners and each partner set got a card with a job on it.  We had to pretend like we were interviewing that person and ask him/her questions.  Ask your child what job card he/she had.  Music and PE were this afternoon.  In science we worked a little more on our eyes and ears and then we watched the brainpop video on Helen Keller.  She was a girl who was blind and deaf.  Our day ended with math!  It was a fun math time!  We played a game called "100 Ants" on our math boards and we also played a math card game.  We had to put the cards in four different piles (6, 7, 8, 9).  I hope to see your super smiley faces tomorrow.  Dress warm, it's going to be very cold tomorrow. BRRRRRRR!!!

Today we had a FUN day!  This morning we had reading.  We are still working on lesson eleven.  At our groups, we played a game with writing or/ore words on a whiteboard.  We read "Snowmen at Work".  Then, we compared and contrasted them to the other Snowmen books we have already read. We had music and PE.  Our holiday concert is on Monday, December 16th!  We are SO ready to sing you our songs!!  Math today was working with the number path that is on our math boards.  We represented numbers on the number path and we even added two numbers together on our number path.  Our day ended with our healthy CELEBRATION!  We had Mrs. Boese's kindergarten class come in to our classroom.  We ate lots of healthy food and we read them our books that we made on ways to stay healthy!!  Have a great night.  See you all tomorrow!

Today we had a cool day!  It seems strange being back in school after having a late start and two days off!  This morning, we read story "Snowmen at Christmas" and worked on our books for how to stay healthy!  The books were long, but filled with good tips for the kindergarteners on how they can keep their bodies healthy. We can't wait to share them on Monday!  Right before lunch, we worked on mosaic trees, stars, and angels.  These will be displayed in the hallway! Math today was working with sticks and circles.  We did two math lessons today.  We are doing great at counting with sticks and circles and with drawing sticks and circles to represent a number.  Have a wonderful weekend.  Stay WARM!  See you on Monday.  Don't forget to bring healthy foods for our celebration!

I hope everyone has had a cozy couple of days!  Here in Duluth, it is ugly!  I just wanted to let everyone know about tomorrow.  I am pretty sure we will be at school once again! We are going to be re- teaching this week's lesson next week for language arts.  Therefore, there will be NO SPELLING TEST TOMORROW!  The spelling test will be next Friday, December 13th!  This way we have more time in class to practice the "or/ore" sound!  Also, our Healthy Celebration is going to have to wait and be on MONDAY, DECEMBER 9th!  We have not been able to start/finish our books on how to stay healthy yet and I don't want them to be rushed.  If you were planning on bringing in food tomorrow, just wait until Monday please!   Thank you everyone!!  Get outside and enjoy the snow! I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!! P.S. with no school tonight, that means the concert for tonight is postponed.

We got to come to school two hours late today!  Our morning cruised right along.  We were only in our classroom for thirty minutes before it was lunchtime!  After lunch we had music and PE.  For math today we worked more on making a ten.  We learned that in an equation we need to write the bigger number down and draw circles for the smaller number. (9 + 5.....write down the 9 and draw 5 circles....make a new ten!)  Our day ended with reading.  We read the story "Land of Ice", we worked more on the "or/ore" sound,  and we practiced asking the teacher some interview questions about her job.  We are getting quite good at this.  Have a great night!  Enjoy the snow and drive safely!

Today we had a good day with a lot of people moving up on our behavior chart!  :)  For reading this week we are working on the (or, ore) sound, we are working on special names, and interview questions.  Today we came up with a few questions that we would like to ask Santa.  We read "Sid Scores". It was about a polar bear who was really good at sports.  We had music and PE.  Math today was working on making a new ten.  We used pictures of circles and triangles to help us find a new equation.  Our day ended with science.  We learned about our eyes and ears.  We learned that our ear drum vibrates when we hear something.  We learned that the colored part of our eye is called the iris.  We all have special irises. Also, we were able to feel some braille writing.  People who are blind use these bumps to read. See your happy faces tomorrow!

Today was a SPECIAL day!  It was special because we had a Thanksgiving feast.  We got to go to the theater and watch Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving.  Then, we went to the cafeteria to eat popcorn, jelly beans, toast, pretzels, and apple juice just like Charlie Brown!  We loved it!!  It was A BLAST!  This morning for math we worked on teen numbers.  We all know that in every teen number there is one ten! For reading we reviewed nouns.  Nouns are people, places, things, and animals.  Have a great night.  See you bright and shiny for a half day tomorrow!

BONES
Today was a SUPER day!  We had one of our best listening days ever! :) We zoomed right into reading.  This week for reading we are doing some review.  Two things that we reviewed today were -ng sound and contractions.  For music today we got invited to listen to the middle school band.  It was awesome!  They were good!  We went to PE after recess.  We played glob tag and ball tag.  It was really fun!  Science today was all about our BONES!  We built a skeleton and we looked at X-rays.  It was awesome being able to see what our bones actually look like.  Did you know that people have 206 bones? Our day ended with math and a game of hang mouse.  Math was pretty busy today because we did two things.  We took our Unit 3 math test and then we started Unit 4.  This lesson was all about counting by tens.  We learned that every ten years its a new decade!  See you tomorrow!  The week is almost half over. Can you believe it?
