This morning we had a little bit of reading.  For reading we read "Ann's Trip to the Stars".  Ann was a girl who used her imagination to go to the stars.  We had to take a little break from reading and go to our second round of MAP testing.  When we got back we worked on our sound for the week. The sound we are working on is the "ar" sound. We had music and PE.  In PE we learned about wrestling. Some of us even got to wrestle a little bit if we volunteered.  In math today we worked more with the hundred grid.  We practiced adding tens to certain numbers.  Our day ended with us working on the beginning, middle, and end to the story we read during reading.  I'll see you back here on Tuesday!

Today was a fun day!  We had reading this morning. In reading we did a picture puzzle with our high frequency words.  We reread the story "A Butterfly Grows".  Next, we had MAP testing.  It was good.  We went to PE and music.  In math we made a hundred grid.  We wrote every number from 1-100.  Whew!  Our hands sure got sore.  We finished our winter writing that goes with our Eskomos. They will be up in the hallway next week!  Come check them out!  Have a great weekend, see you on Monday!  Elijah we will miss you. We hope you have a great rest of your year and visit us soon!

Today was a good day!  For reading, we read a story called "A Butterfly Grows".  This story was about a caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly.  We fixed the months of the year and the days of the week so that they were written correctly.  We learned about the -es ending of words too!  We had library and computer.  In math today we went shopping!  We bought two items.  We had to show our answer with dimes, nickels, and pennies.  The last thing we did today was worked on our very own sequencing story!  See your smiling, cold faces tomorrow!

We're finally back in school! We had a great day!  In reading we worked on the "ch" sound.  We built "ch" and "tch" words on the smartboard.  We read two stories today: "Rich Gets Big" and "Ranch Pals".  We are working on putting things in sequence (in order) and we also worked on writing the days of the week.  It was still too cold out for outside recess, so we stayed in.  We did two math lessons today. One before specialists and one after.  Our first lesson was grouping things by tens.  Our second lesson was working on dimes and pennies.  We used the make a ten strategy to find our answer.  Our day ended with us starting to think of our very own sequencing story!  Have a great night, stay warm!  See you all tomorrow morning :)

2014
Happy New Year!  Today was a good new start.  In reading today we read "King Midas and His Gold" and wrote about the beginning, middle, and end.  We also continued working on names of special places. We had library and computer.  For social studies we played a fun review game to help us practice for our test tomorrow.  We wrapped up our body unit for science.  We did a neat germ experiment.  Ask your child about the glitter experiment!  Math today was all about dimes and pennies.  We had to count using dimes and pennies and we also had to show certain amounts of money using only dimes and pennies.  Our day ended with our December writing!  We wrote about Christmas.  We are so happy to be back!  I can't wait to see your smiling faces tomorrow!  Happy Birthday Sophia!!

It was a good day!  Today we had Daily 5.  At Daily 5 we did read to someone.  We read the story "King Midas and His Gold" to each other.  We wrote a riddle at the writing center and we worked on our spelling words and played Hang Mouse at the word work center.  In social studies we learned about citizens and heroes.  Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr.  fought for whites and African Americans to be treated equally?  We had music and library check out today.  Math was our practice test.  I think we are ready for the real test tomorrow!  Can't wait to see you in the morning!

It was a super day!  We watched the kindergarteners perform their 12 Bells for Santa.  It was awesome and so cute!  When we got back to our classroom we had reading.  We read the story "King Midas and His Gold".  King Midas learned that having gold didn't make him happy like he thought it would.  After lunch we had music.  In music class, we got two special treats:  a candy cane and a Hershey kiss.  We also got to watch our concert from last night and The Nutcracker.  After PE we had math.  In math, we practiced writing equations and circling a new decade on our whiteboards.  Then, we played the Sandwich Game!  Our day ended with doing a little bit more of our parents surprise!!!!  Have a spectacular night!  See you all back here in the AM!

Today we had a GREAT day!  We had reading this morning.  We are learning about the "sh" sound. We went up on the SmartBoard and corrected names of special places.  As a class and with a partner we read "Fox and His Big Wish". We also started our Theme 3 test.  For social studies today we looked at some pictures of Presidents! We learned that there are many types of governments.  Esko has one, Minnesota has one, and even the United States of America has one.  The leaders of these places are the mayor, the governor, and the President.  We did a wonderful job at our dress rehearsal this afternoon.  Tonight is the big concert.  Be here no earlier than 6:00.  We will be meeting in Miss C.'s classroom because I have a basketball game.  I expect a great report and I hope you all sing beautifully tonight and have tons of fun!  I can't wait to hear all about it tomorrow!
