Today we reviewed the sight word like and the letter D. Boys and girls did a writing activity where they wrote about something they like, drawing a picture to go along with it. We've been talking alot about detail lately, so they know they are required to add lots of detail to make it come alive (otherwise it magically shows up back in their unfinished tray :) )
We played a mystery game where I gave them clues and they had to try to guess the word ("I am thinking of a word. It begins with /d/. It ends with /og/. What word am I?) The focus of this game was blending onsets and rimes. Then we learned our robust vocabulary for the week: active, gigantic, and voyage.
The boys and girls worked hard to finish up stations. Then we reviewed the proper way to make numbers 1-6. If the students finished their work they could start making handprint/footprint turkeys.
We had a fun day!
We also finished up these turkeys we'd been working on! It's turkey month!! :)
