Today was a productive Monday. We started by MAP testing reading on the computers. I got a chance to peek at their scores--good job all around! Then we did a language arts lesson followed by centers. There they did a math partners activity, a sentence frame to "They gave me a little...", a chick craft, and a science seed poem.
We learned/reviewed the robust words quarrel (to fight), hollow, scurry, ravenous (so hungry!), and lively (lots of life/energy).
Afterwards we played "What's on my back?" Then we did a math lesson on estimating. They now know that means to make a smart or educated guess. We did a practice sheet on this, then did a writing activity about bugs (to go along with a book we read).
We had animal crackers and read "Have you filled a bucket today?" We talked about how everyone carries an imaginary bucket around, and you get to choose if you add to their bucket/happiness, or if you are a dipper and take away.
