Today was a FABULOUS day!  This morning we started right away getting our ipads and learning our new math for the day.  It was more work with subtracting!  We are getting really good at it.  After that we had our calendar where we did an AWESOME job being independent and working on the calendar without Miss C.  Bryce was a great leader!  WOW!  Then we had Math centers.  Then centers were a lot of fun today.  In the card game, the student that won had the smaller number!  We also continued making videos of subtraction problems.  During social studies we reviewed some of our new terms.  Scarcity, wants, needs, goods, services, work, and volunteering.  We then volunteered our time and picked up our hallways especially in the high school.  After lunch, Bryce shared his great pictures.  We are learning so many cool things about Bryce.  His big brother is even in the army!  What a hero!  We practiced our high frequency words, then practiced telling and naming parts of sentences.  Then, Miss C. had us cut apart words and make contractions.  In are not we cut our the O and put a stitch there to make aren't.  Then we searched and located words in a book that had 'all' in them.  Finally for language arts, we had to correct questions.  Then we got to ask Miss C any question we wanted to.  Collin asked me if I could buy him an NFL football.  Some of the other questions were a bit surprising. You can ask them at home.  :)  Finally, we ended with our DAILY FIVE!!! What a great day! I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!

We had a great day!  We again had daily five today.  At the word work center we got to use our spelling words and write silly sentences.  We continued writing about places at the writing center.  We had library in between some of our daily five centers.  This afternoon we had computer.  Social studies today was learning about how our food gets to the market.  We learned about how oranges get from the tree to the table.  We also looked at a map and used a compass to figure out which direction we were going.  Math was more subtraction, subtraction, subtraction!   We did a lot of proving today.  We had to see if the number sentence really was true or not.  I'm excited to see you on Friday!

Happy Wednesday!  Today was a busy day!  This morning we had daily five.  At the word work center we worked on writing our spelling words with red hot vowels and at the writing center we wrote sentences about a place.  I feel like I say this a lot, but it is amazing to me how much our handwriting and writing in general has grown already this year!  After daily five we had lunch.  This afternoon we went to music and library.  In social studies today, we learned about buying, trading, and saving.  We watched a short brain pop video on this as well.  Many of us already knew all about buying and saving our money because many of us use our B-Mart money to buy things, while others save it.  Math was working more with subtraction story problems.  Today we had to prove if the number sentence was true or not true.  Many of them were true and one was not true (10-4 = 5...not true!)  Our day ended with some writing work time.  Have a good night, see you on Thursday!

Today was a fast day. We started with working on unfinished work at our seats. Then we did calendar followed by language arts. After playing some vocabulary games on the smartboard, we got into our table groups and had 2 minutes to brainstorm as many nouns as we could think of. Then we reviewed sentence structure-naming and telling parts of sentences. We had new centers today. For vocab practice, we came up with 'silly sentences' using our words for the week. These were pretty entertaining to read :) Like every Wednesday, we tested for our AR quizes in the computer lab. These quizes are always over their leveled reader for the week, as well as any other book that is in their FIT level. We came back and had 10 minutes to do unfinished work before lunch. After lunch we went right into math. There we wrapped up Unit 1 by working to invent strategies to add three numbers. We then reviewed key concepts from the past unit as we prepare to take our unit 1 test at the end of this week. We had computer, snack, PE, story, and home!

Today Miss C. was back!  There was no camera in her tummy.  We all thought there was going to be.  Right away we found our ipads and watched our movie of Miss C teaching the lesson for the day.  It's been a week since we have practiced, due to the break and Miss C being gone, but we still did great!  We practiced more subtraction.  We are getting better and better.  Have your child show you the sign for subtracting.  Next, we had calendar and then we had centers.  The centers were: working with Miss C., mega math, money practice, and story problems with iphones.  After that, we drew a picture of our favorite place to visit.  Ask your child where they drew.   After lunch we made Bryce's wordle!  There are a lot of great words describing our Celebrity of the week!  He also brought in a great Halloween book!  It's Curious George!  Then we practiced our new high frequency.  We also practiced adding ed and ing to the end of words.  This is tricky but we are getting the hang of it.  For social studies we learned about buying, trading, and saving!  We talked about great ways to save your money to shop at Cmart.  There are some expensive but GREAT things to buy!  Finally, we ended with Daily Five.  In the daily five now, we get to choose which centers we want to do.  We have to complete all of them between today and tomorrow.  The writing center is a must where we have to write four sentences about our favorite place to visit.  What a great day!  I can't wait to see you all tomorrow.

We had a good Tuesday today. We started out by working at our seats to get unfinished work done. Then we met on the carpet for calendar and our daily math warmup. After that we got into language arts. On the smartboard we played some review sight word games with soccer balls. Then we got into a large circle and read our theme story for the week called "Winners Never Quit," by Mia Hamm. We talked about autobiographies. We also worked with nouns, introducing singular and plural forms and the rules that correspond (if it ends in x, s, ch, or sh, add es). After lunch we went right to PE, then we had social studies. The vocab word "region" was introduced. We talked about how regions are areas that have some shared natural or human feature. Then we went to Music. After our snack break we had Math. We are worked with comparing two numbers using the greater than/less than symbol. To end the day we did math stations and RTI before we read "The Mouse and the Motorcycle." **Picture retakes on Friday!! Book orders due Friday!!

Happy Birthday Trevor!!  Our day started out with reading.  With a partner we built -all words on our whiteboards.  Some groups thought of seven -all words.  We read the story "All on the Map" on the smartboard and with a partner.  We practiced writing questions.  Our writing gets better every day!  Social studies today was learning about goods and services.  We know that a candy bar is a good.  We have to buy a good. We know that doctors do a service for us.  They help us get better.  After lunch, we had music and PE.  In PE we played freeze tag and practiced some hitting skills with a balloon.  Math was working more with subtraction.  We had to write equations.  I am amazed at how well we are catching on to subtraction and writing the equations.  Our day ended with a fun game of SPARKLE!  Have a wonderful night and see you back here tomorrow!

It was a good day!  This morning we had reading.  The sound we are working on this week is the -all sound.  We read the story "A Tall, Tall Wall" and practiced reading many -all words.  We also made an -all flip book.  We will be working on asking questions this week and writing about places.  We had music before lunch.  After lunch we had PE.  Then, it was time for math.  We learned about subtraction, take away, and minus.  We did many story problems together on our math boards.  After math we had social studies.  We learned about things that we need and things that we want.  The three main things that we need to live are:  food, shelter, and clothing!  We had a fun day!  I'm excited to see you all back here tomorrow.  Don't forget to start dressing warmer.  It was sure cold today at recess...BRR!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a good MEA break. Today we started Lesson 6 in Language Arts. We are working with the long i sound-ie and igh. We took a pre-spelling test as well as did a writing composition test (finishing up from last week). Then we had a lesson on new sight words, robust vocabulary, and finding long i sounds in sentences. In center work we did a fall favorites writing, we practiced our spelling words by drawing a picture and hiding them inside the picture, as well as our usual meet-with-teacher, listen to reading, and read to self. After lunch we had social studies. There we reviewed landforms. Then we talked about climate and weather. We went to PE and then straight to library. We came back and had snack followed by math. In math we played a parachute game where we practiced our math facts. Then we talked about 'squiggles,' and how they are part of the larger number in an equation 12=6+6 (6+6 are squiggles). We ended the day with some pen pal writing work, math games, and RTI time.
