Just a few reminders!  Tonight we have conferences.  Please make sure you are here at your scheduled time and remember we only have 15 minutes.  Also, there will be NO MOVIES for math tonight and Thursday, due to conferences!  I don't want kids getting home late from school and then having to watch a movie.  We need our rest, especially with so many not feeling so great!  Finally, if you have ANY shoe boxes that you could donate, we need FIVE more!  We will be making our mailboxes tomorrow!  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

Today was the first day of a very exciting week!  Not only is Friday Valentine's Day, it's also our 100th day of school!  It's going to be a blast.  It was so nice to have Layla's mom, Ashley, today in math centers.  She helped us graph our names and compare.  Then we worked on greater than and less than with Miss C.  One of the other centers was using alligators to show the bigger number!  The centers were a lot of fun.  For science we talked more about natural resources!  After lunch we worked with our new sound -le.  This is a tricky sound to work with.  It's really helping kids to cover the le with their finger, sound out the beginning without it and then add it.  Finally, we celebrated Collin's birthday which was yesterday!  Thank you for the delicious cookies Collin and Happy Birthday!!  I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

We had a productive Monday today. We started off with our spelling pre test for lesson 17. Then we did a little sharing time followed by our daily math warmup. We had a language arts lesson where we learned about the ea blend, as well as a review of adjectives and pronouns. We also talked about setting. We broke into our daily 5 centers. Then we had indoor recess followed by social studies. There, we talked about goods and services, as well as a review of producer and consumer. We had PE/Library, then a short break for snack. We had a math lesson on sequence. The objectives were to be able to count forward and backward, analyze relationships between numbers in sequences, and discuss patterns in a horizontal hundred grid. They did great! We ended the day with unfinished work and RTI. Reminders: Yearbook $ as soon as you get it Bring in your valentines boxes when they are completed Wednesday is superhero day! Classroom wish list-409 spray or sanitizer wipes :) Thank you!!

Today we had a pretty good day!  For reading we read the story "Jungle Fun".  We learned the five parts to a friendly letter.  They are: heading, greeting, body, closing, and name.  The sound we are working on all week long is... -le.  Right before lunch we went to music.  We played a game in music class.  After recess, we had gym.  We played under and over tag and toilet tag.  For science we learned about what a geologist is and we played a fun review game with buzzers.  Our day wrapped up with math and groups.  For math, we worked in groups on creating a graph of our names.  Every single person had to say something different about the graph.  It was neat hearing all the things that we came up with.  I hope you have  a great night.  Don't forget conferences are this week!  See you bright and shiny!

I can't believe how much I have missed blogging!  We have been so busy in our classroom and after school has been nuts!  We had a great week working on er, ir, and ur words!  It's was a tough spelling test this week but the kids did great!  We even brought our spelling words into math.  We searched through Valentine's Day books for words that have er, ir, and ur.  Then we graphed what we found!  It was a lot of fun!  We also worked hard on invitations for our Valentine's Day party!  Wow is this year flying by!  I can't wait to see everyone on Monday!

Happy Friday! Today we finished up our daily 5 centers. We got started on a tear-art heart valentine that we are hanging up in the classroom to enjoy until Valentine's day. We had lunch followed by music, then we did a social studies lesson on producers, consumers, and income. We talked about things that are a necessity to buy, and things that are probably just for fun. I told them to be mindful of this when they go shopping with their families ;) We did a mini version of math centers before going to computer. Then we ended the day cashing in our 20 turtle time minutes for the week by finishing "Monsters University" and working on our heart crafts. Info: Supplies still needed for Feb 14th "Store" day (where we practice buying goods and talking about needs and wants when shopping): Dry Erase Markers, fun pencils, and individual wrapped snacks. Also, our classroom could use some more sanitary wipes and or 409 all purpose spray to keep our desks clean! Only if you are willing or able too. Much appreciated, thank you so much! :) Wed February 12th is Super Hero Day Wed February 19th is Class Color Day (purple!) Friday, February 28th is PJ Day Conferences are next Tuesday and Thursday! Looking forward to sharing our successes over these past few months. Enjoy your weekends! Indoor recess all week makes for some interesting 'movement' breaks. Gotta get those wiggles out somehow! Today was a pretty good day.  In Daily 5, at the writing center, we worked on invitations.  At the word work center, we got to finish our rainbow writing of our spelling words.  Then, we wrote sentences using our high frequency words.  We had a lot of people move up for good behavior during Daily 5.  We had library and computer today.  In computer we played on a website called Cookies.  We LOVE this site!!  In science,  we did a worksheet where we had to compare how many cans people recycled.  We also got to review what we learned yesterday with the sub.  We taught Ms. Battaglia all we know about the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! Our day ended with math and groups.  Math was working more with graphs.  This time we didn't just compare two things- we compared three things!! Let's have a little bit better day of listening tomorrow afternoon.  See you on Friday!

It was a fabulous day!  Reading was long today.  In reading, we read the story "One More Friend".  It taught us that we can always let others play with us and join in.  We practiced more with using he, she, it, and they.  We had music and PE.  In PE we played a game called "Everyone is it". In science we learned a little bit more about how we use natural resources like air, water, and land.  We wrapped up our day with math and groups.  In math we worked more with graphs.  We did a lot of comparing with our graphs.  Have a wonderful night!  Don't forget it is COLLEGE DAY tomorrow!
