Welcome back students and families. I am Rhoda Stuermer, the school nurse for Esko schools. Parents often wonder whether or not their child is too sick to attend school. Here are some guidelines to follow when deciding whether or not to keep your child home.
Student shall be excluded from all school activities for the following reasons:
- If a student has a temperature of 100.4º F or more-student must be fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
- If a student has vomited in the past 24 hours.
- Head lice- student has an active case(live lice) of head lice.
- Strep throat- stay home until 12 hours after antibiotic treatment begins and fever free.
- Rash- if cause is unknown, please check with your physician before sending student to school.
- Influenza- until 24 hours after fever is gone without fever-reducing medication.
- Impetigo- until 24 hours after treatment and sores are drying or improved.
- If a student's immunizations are not current.
My office hours are Monday through Friday 8am-3pm. Please feel free to contact me with any health questions or concerns. I look forward to all of us having a safe and healthy year at Esko!
