Early Childhood Screening

Do you have a child between the ages of three and five years old?

The state of Minnesota requires all children complete the one time Early Childhood screening before entering Kindergarten. The recommended age for screening is 3 to 4 years old. Screening is a sampling of skills and a simple check of how your child is growing, developing and learning in the following areas: cognitive, social emotional, speech and language, large and small muscle development. Early Childhood Screening also includes vision and hearing screening, height and weight, health history and immunization review.  Early Childhood Screening helps determine if there are learning concerns that should be addressed before your child begins kindergarten. A comparable Early Childhood Screening that includes all components can also take place at the following: Headstart, Child and Teen Checkups, or a healthcare provider.
